Do you have one for your target audience?

Happy Friday! One story we’re tracking today is Instagram abandoning its “Live Shopping” feature. Apparently, it just never caught on like company execs had hoped. Instead, they’ll be putting the focus back on ads.

It’s a simple case of a brand not listening to what its users ACTUALLY want. It’s also a great reminder of the importance of customer avatars, and creating products specifically for that avatar.

Today, we’re going to dive deep into exactly how to create your own customer avatar!

Here’s your full rundown for this Friday, February 17…

Why Every Business Needs a Customer Avatar

No matter what business or industry you’re in, you absolutely need a customer avatar.

The idea is to think of all the people that might use your product and create one individual avatar to represent all of them.

This way, you can more effectively serve them.

A customer avatar helps you get into the mindset of your customers and better understand their motivations, habits, desires, and fears.

You will...

  • Narrow down your target audience…

  • Visualize their needs…

  • Begin to segment customers…

  • Get different ideas for testing the market…

So, how do you get this type of information?

There are many FREE tools that can be helpful in gathering the information you need to create a customer avatar.

#1 - Surveys

Surveys make it super easy to collect relevant data from potential customers, and you can give away something for free or offer an incentive to persuade people to complete the survey.

#2 - Focus Groups

You can interview groups of customers to get product/services feedback and get a sense of deeper feelings about products/services.

You can either find people online or use a service that will help you build a focus group out.

#3 - Google Analytics

If you already have traffic coming to a website, Google Analytics gives you a ton of great data on who your visitors are.

All you do is add a little piece of code to your website.

#4 - Facebook Insights

Facebook offers marketers a wealth of data about its users through the FREE Facebook Audience Insights tool.

#5 - Social Media Polls

If you have a following on social media, quick polls allow you to get instant results and customer feedback about your ideas.

#6 - Forums

All niches have forums.

Big forums like Quora or Reddit touch on every topic imaginable. Visit these forums to see what types of topics people are asking questions about and see the feedback others are getting.

Forums are a powerful way for you to listen in and learn about potential customers and discover solutions you can provide.

Again, the type of information you’re looking for are things like...

  • Age - How old is your target audience?

  • Location - Where do these individuals live?

  • Gender - Are the majority of these individuals male or female?

  • Income - What is their annual income?

  • Language - What language does your most common customer speak?

  • Opinions - What are their opinions about your business or practices?

  • Interests - What things do your core customers like?

  • Browsing habits - What are both the physical and virtual browsing habits of your core customer?

Spend time using all the tools to gather the necessary data to create customer avatars, and you’ll get a much better idea of what you should sell and how you should sell it.

Is Deep Listening The Secret To Succeeding More?

Listen up!

Today’s podcast is all about a very interesting topic: deep listening.

You see, the more you make LISTENING a habit, the more you succeed and the more the people in your network like you.

As Anik puts it, this is something he’s been focusing on quite a bit lately. So it was amazing timing when he got an invitation to interview Oscar Trimboli.

He’s on a mission to create 100 million “deep listeners.” He’s done research with more than 14,000 people and has interviewed hundreds of deep listeners.

We won’t give it all away here, because you absolutely have to hear this for yourself.

If you want to succeed more (and who doesn’t?), the secret may just lie in LISTENING more…
